Flicking Bluebottle Flies in Australia.

When I was studying in Australia, my summer hobby was flicking flies. During each summer, Australia would be swamped with big fat bluebottle flies. They were everywhere. It used to annoy me because they would fly into your mouth when you were talking. And I took my revenge on them by flicking them as hard as I could.

One day I found a fly on the church office door. It was a big one! I curled my fingers ready to flick it and moved towards it slowly. When I was close enough, I flicked it with all my might. In an instant a spray of tiny maggots flew onto my face and hair!

The fly was pregnant. I washed my face and spent the rest of the day asking friends, “Do you see anything in my hair?”
